Little Fins Jump Start Swim Plan
At Little Fins Swim School, we know Colorado Springs families live active lifestyles. You’re planning trips to the lake, family visits to relatives with backyard pools, or traveling to beach destinations. Sometimes you need your child’s swimming ability to catch up with your calendar, and waiting months for gradual progress just doesn’t work with real life.
Jump Start gives your child five one-on-one lessons within a single week, creating the kind of focused, intensive practice that normally takes a month of once-weekly lessons. It’s designed for families who need measurable progress fast, whether that means preparing for an upcoming trip, building confidence before a new school year, or simply accelerating development during a window when daily lessons actually fit your schedule. Many find it valuable when their child is close to mastering a particular skill and needs that final concentrated push to achieve independence.
Whatever your reason, Jump Start is effective delivers results because it matches how young learners actually build new physical skills: through consistent, repeated practice where each session builds directly on the previous day’s progress.

How Jump Start Swim Plans Work
Jump Start is the same high-quality, individualized instruction Little Fins provides in regular lessons, just concentrated into a single week for families who need faster results or have limited windows of availability.
What's Included
Each Jump Start plan includes five 30-minute private lessons scheduled within a seven-day period. All five lessons must be completed within that week, creating the daily repetition that makes this program effective. Your child works one-on-one with their instructor for the entire 30 minutes, receiving completely personalized attention focused on their specific needs and goals.
Lessons cover whatever your child needs most. For beginners, that might mean water adjustment, floating fundamentals, and basic propulsion skills. For intermediate swimmers, instruction could focus on breath control, independent swimming across the pool, or introduction to formal strokes. Advanced swimmers might use Jump Start to refine stroke technique, build endurance, or prepare for competitive swimming programs.
Scheduling Process
Jump Start lessons operate on a first-come, first-served basis for available time slots. Not all instructors participate in Jump Start due to the intensive daily commitment required, so availability can be more limited than regular weekly lessons. We recommend booking your Jump Start week as far in advance as possible, especially during popular periods before school breaks or summer vacation season.
You can schedule through the online portal or text our admin team at (719) 344-5328 for assistance finding available slots. Once your plan begins, all five lessons must occur within the seven-day window. If your child misses a scheduled lesson during the Jump Start week, that lesson may be made up within the 7 days or it is forfeited, per standard policy, since the program’s effectiveness depends on consecutive daily practice.
Little Fins offers Jump Start at both our Garden of the Gods and Union Boulevard locations in Colorado Springs, with year-round availability in our heated indoor pools. Winter Jump Start plans work just as well as summer ones since our 94-degree pools keep swimmers comfortable regardless of Colorado weather outside.
What Sets Little Fins Jump Start Apart
Jump Start programs exist at many swim schools, but implementation matters. Here's what makes Little Fins' approach different and why Colorado Springs families trust us with their children's accelerated swim development.
Truly Private Instruction
Every Jump Start lesson is one-on-one. Your child isn’t sharing their instructor with other swimmers or waiting for turns. The entire 30 minutes belongs to them, allowing instructors to provide the kind of focused feedback and immediate correction that makes daily progress possible. When you’re trying to achieve significant advancement in just seven days, individual attention is essential.
Instructors Trained in Progressive Skill Development:
Jump Start’s intensive format requires specialized teaching expertise. Little Fins instructors receive focused training in progressive skill sequencing and age-appropriate expectations for accelerated learning. They understand how to structure five consecutive lessons so skills build logically, recognizing when to advance forward and when to consolidate new abilities. Our instructors know what reasonable progress looks like over a five-day period and how to calibrate instruction so your child experiences consistent success while being appropriately challenged.Instructors communicate with each other and have a detailed process for communicating progress to other team members, who you may schedule with during your 7 day training period.
Customized to Individual Goals
Before your Jump Start week begins, you’ll communicate your specific objectives. Your instructor builds the week’s progression around those stated goals, creating a roadmap for the five lessons that targets what matters most to your family. This goal-oriented approach ensures you get the outcomes you’re paying for rather than generic swim instruction.
Year-Round Availability at Two Convenient Locations
Both our Garden of the Gods and Union Boulevard facilities offer Jump Start scheduling throughout the year. You’re not limited to summer months or forced to wait for specific program start dates. When your family needs focused swim instruction, we can often typically accommodate you within a few weeks.
Our heated indoor pools mean December Jump Start weeks work just as well as July ones, giving Colorado Springs families flexibility regardless of season.
Value-Focused Pricing
At $175 for five private lessons, Jump Start offers significant value compared to five individual drop-in lessons. You’re getting private instruction at a reduced per-lesson rate because you’re committing to the full week upfront, making intensive skill-building accessible to more families.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my child is ready for Jump Start Swim Plans?
Jump Start works best for children who already have some water exposure and can handle 30 minutes of focused instruction. If your child has had previous swimming lessons, can tolerate water on their face without significant distress, and can follow basic directions from instructors, they’re likely ready for Jump Start. For children with significant water fear or zero previous pool experience, we recommend starting with our trial assessment lesson and weekly instruction before attempting intensive daily lessons.
What happens if my child gets sick during the Jump Start week?
Because Jump Start requires all five lessons within a seven-day period, missed lessons due to illness cannot be rescheduled or refunded. The program’s effectiveness relies on consecutive daily practice, so extending it beyond seven days defeats the purpose. We recommend scheduling Jump Start during weeks when your family has no other commitments that might interfere with daily attendance.
Can I use Jump Start to prepare my child for a specific event?
Absolutely. Many families schedule Jump Start specifically before vacations, summer camps, or pool parties. When booking, let our team know your timeline and goals so we can help ensure your Jump Start week finishes with adequate time before your event. We recommend completing Jump Start at least a few days before travel to allow skills to settle and give your child confidence without the immediate pressure of an upcoming situation.
How does Jump Start compare to regular weekly private lessons?
Jump Start provides faster skill acquisition over a short period, while weekly lessons support long-term development and skill retention. Think of Jump Start as intensive skill-building that works best when you have a specific timeline or goal. Weekly lessons provide the ongoing practice that turns those skills into long-term abilities. Many families use both: Jump Start to accelerate progress at strategic times, weekly lessons to maintain and continue building throughout the year.
Is Jump Start available during school breaks and summer?
Yes, though availability can be more limited during popular periods when many families request Jump Start. Spring break, pre-summer, and holiday weeks typically book fastest. We recommend scheduling your Jump Start at least 3-4 weeks in advance during peak seasons to secure your preferred time slots and instructor.
