Our Specialty Swim Programs
Not every swimmer follows the same path to water confidence. Your child might have already conquered basic water safety and be ready for something that sparks their imagination. You might be three weeks away from a family beach trip and realize your swimmer needs focused preparation before then. Or perhaps your family’s schedule shifts too unpredictably for the same weekly time slot to work long-term.
Little Fins designed our specialty programs for exactly these situations. Beyond our traditional private and group lessons, we offer intensive training that provides daily practice and focused skill building, mermaid programs that turn advanced swimming into pure magic, flexible lesson packages that adapt to changing schedules, and unique aquatic experiences you won’t find anywhere else in Colorado Springs.

Mermaid Training
Where Advanced Skills Meet Imagination
Modality: Small group (up to 6 mermaids per instructor)
Cost: $250
Session Length: 6 sessions, 1-hour each
Ages: passed the first 3 swim levels at Little Fins and able to swim the length of the pool and dive to the bottom, unassisted.
Mermaid Training at Little Fins combines advanced swimming techniques with the creativity and wonder that makes kids excited to be in the water. This program works beautifully for swimmers who have passed the first three levels of water safety at Little Fins or are at least 8 years old, can swim the full length of the pool on the surface, and feel comfortable swimming underwater in both shallow and deep ends. This program also appeals to kids who love creative movement, want to develop advanced swimming skills beyond basic stroke work, or simply dream of becoming a mermaid.
Mermaid Training is a legitimate skill-building program taught in small groups of up to six five swimmers per instructor. Participants learn synchronized swimming techniques, dolphin kick variations, underwater acrobatic movements, breathing techniques for extended submersion, and mermaid-specific dances and tricks.
Sessions run as six-week clinics priced at $250 per session, with each class lesson lasting one full hour in the pool. Swimmers wear monofins during instruction, and while Little Fins has monofins available to borrow based on availability, many families choose to bring their own equipment. The small group structure ensures individualized attention while creating the social energy that makes learning these creative skills especially fun. Looking to do a single drop-in class instead? When space is available, drop-in classes are available at $55/class. However, swimmers must be pre-registered.
Space in Mermaid Training is limited due to the small group sizes, and pre-registration is required for all sessions. Learn more about [Mermaid Training](/mermaidtraining) or call (719) 344-5328 to reserve your spot in the next clinic.
Jump Start Swim Plan
One Week of Intensive Progress
Modality: One-on-One
Cost:$175
Session Length: 5 sessions, 30 minutes each
Ages: 6 months and older
Life gets busy, and sometimes you need accelerated progress rather than incremental weekly lessons, whether you’re preparing for an upcoming vacation, working toward a specific skill milestone, or simply want to build momentum quickly. The Jump Start Swim Plan delivers focused, daily instruction that condenses roughly one month of progress into just seven days.
Jump Start includes five 30-minute one-on-one lessons to be scheduled and completed within a seven-day period. Each lesson is fully personalized to your child’s current ability and your specific swimming goals. Instructors work on everything from fundamental water safety for beginners to fine-tuning stroke technique for more advanced swimmers. Because lessons happen daily rather than weekly, skills build on each other immediately while muscle memory is fresh.
This intensive approach costs $175 for the complete five-lesson package. Lessons must be scheduled within seven days of starting the plan, and families can split lessons between both Little Finis locations. You can book through the online portal or text admin administration at (719) 344-5328 for scheduling assistance. Keep in mind that lesson times are first-come, first-serve, and not all instructors are available for Jump Start lessons, so early scheduling helps secure your preferred times.
When Jump Start Makes Sense
Jump Start Plans work particularly well for families preparing for beach vacations or lake trips where water safety skills need to be solid before departure. They’re ideal for swimmers who learn well with daily repetition and benefit from concentrated practice rather than spacing lessons across weeks. The program also serves families who want to refresh or boost existing skills quickly, perhaps after a long break from swimming or before moving to the next skill level.
The intensive daily structure requires commitment. Missing days disrupts the concentrated learning approach, so families should plan Jump Start during a week when they can reliably attend all five lessons. The investment pays off through rapid, noticeable progress that typically takes much longer to achieve through traditional weekly scheduling.
Ready to jump-start your swimmer’s skills? Learn more about the [Jump Start Swim Plan](/jumpstart) or call (719) 344-5328 to schedule your intensive week.
Swim & Save Flex Lessons
Affordable One-on-One Instruction
Modality:1-on-1
Cost: $120 (3 lessons), $195 (5 lessons), or $380 (10 lessons)
Session Length: 30 minutes each
Ages: 6 months and older
Quality one-on-one swim instruction doesn’t have to break the budget. Swim & Save packages offer the same personalized attention and 30-minute private lessons that define Little Fins’ approach, just at a discounted rate that works for families seeking flexibility or testing out our program before committing to monthly plans.
These flex lesson packages are specifically designed to fill schedule gaps and provide teaching opportunities for Little Fins’ developing instructors. You’ll receive high-quality private instruction from newer team members who are building their experience under the guidance of senior staff.
Swim & Save packages come in several sizes to match different needs and budgets, all available for booking through Little Fins website. While the 24-hour cancellation policy applies just like regular lessons, these packages are specifically intended as supplemental options rather than replacements for full-time lesson plans. They work beautifully for filling gaps, adding extra practice during skill-building phases, or giving families a chance to experience Little Fins’ one-on-one approach.
All Swim & Save Packages expire 30 days from purchase. Discount only applies to Swim & Save slots (non-peak times and with newer instructors).
Who Benefits from Swim & Save
Families with changing schedules who can’t commit to the same weekly time slot find Swim & Save packages particularly useful. The program also serves families who want to try Little Fins’ teaching approach before investing in a full monthly plan, or those looking for a lower-cost option during busy financial seasons. Because lessons are taught by developing instructors, Swim & Save also gives newer teachers valuable experience while offering families affordable access to private instruction. For swimmers who adapt well to different teaching styles or families primarily focused on skill maintenance rather than intensive progression, Swim & Save delivers excellent value.

Finding the Right Specialty Program for Your Family
Choosing between specialty programs comes down to where your swimmer is now and what you’re hoping to accomplish. If your child has already mastered foundational water safety and craves creative challenge, Mermaid Training transforms advanced swimming into something magical. For families facing an upcoming vacation or specific deadline, Jump Start provides intensive daily practice that builds skills quickly. When budget flexibility or schedule unpredictability makes monthly plans challenging, Swim & Save packages deliver quality one-on-one instruction at a lower price point.
The best program depends on your swimmer’s current ability level, your family’s schedule, and your immediate goals. Not sure which option fits? Call Little Fins at (719) 344-5328 and we’ll talk through your situation to help you choose the program that makes sense right now.
Why Families Choose Little Fins for Specialty Programs
Colorado Springs families trust Little Fins for specialty programs because we bring the same commitment to quality and safety that defines our core lesson offerings. Whether your child is learning underwater acrobatics in Mermaid Training, completing an intensive Jump Start week, or trying us out through Swim & Save packages, you’ll experience the same high standards and individualized attention.
Expertise Across Program Types
Our instructors receive specialized training for each program format. Mermaid instructors understand synchronized swimming techniques and creative movement instruction. Jump Start teachers know how to structure intensive daily lessons for maximum retention. Swim & Save instructors are developing their skills under guidance from experienced senior staff. Each program draws on specific expertise matched to what that format requires.
One-on-One Attention Where It Matters
With the exception of Mermaid Training's small-group structure, all specialty programs maintain Little Fins' signature one-on-one approach. Jump Start and Swim & Save both provide 30 minutes of private instruction where your swimmer receives 100% of their teacher's attention. Even Mermaid Training caps groups at five swimmers per instructor, ensuring personalized attention within the collaborative group environment.
Flexible Options for Different Seasons
Family life changes. Summer brings vacations. School schedules shift. Budgets fluctuate. Our specialty programs exist specifically to accommodate these real-world variations. Instead of forcing every family into the same weekly lesson structure year-round, we offer options that work for different stages and circumstances.
Year-Round Heated Indoor Facilities
Whether you're doing a Jump Start week in January or Mermaid Training in November, both our Garden of the Gods and Union Boulevard locations maintain 94-degree heated pools. Colorado Springs winters don't interrupt specialty programs any more than they interrupt regular lessons.
Transparent Communication About Each Program
We're upfront about what each specialty program provides and who benefits most. We explain these details clearly so families can make informed decisions rather than discovering limitations after registration.
Confidence Through Unique Experiences
Specialty programs give swimmers new challenges in fresh formats. Trying something different—like Mermaid Training or an intensive week of Jump Start—builds independence, resilience, and excitement around swimming.
Trusted By Industry Leaders
Little Fins has taught thousands of Colorado Springs swimmers since 2013, building a reputation for quality instruction that parents trust and children enjoy.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does my child need to be a current Little Fins student to participate in specialty programs?
Not necessarily. Mermaid Training and Jump Start are open to any swimmer who meets the program requirements, whether they’re current Little Fins students or not. However, some programs like Mermaid Training have specific skill prerequisites, so we may recommend a trial assessment lesson to confirm readiness if we’re unfamiliar with your child’s current abilities.
Can we combine specialty programs with regular weekly lessons?
Absolutely. Many families maintain regular weekly or monthly lesson plans while adding Jump Start weeks before vacations, enrolling in Mermaid Training sessions, or using Swim & Save packages for supplemental practice. Specialty programs are designed to complement rather than replace ongoing instruction.
How far in advance should we register for Mermaid Training?
Mermaid Training has limited space with only five swimmers per instructor in each clinic. Sessions fill quickly, especially during popular times like summer and around school breaks. We recommend registering as soon as the next session opens for best availability. Call (719) 344-5328 for current session dates and remaining spots.
What happens if we need to cancel or reschedule Jump Start lessons?
Jump Start follows the same 24-hour cancellation policy as all Little Fins lessons. Cancellations require 24-hour notice, and rescheduling within 24 hours incurs a $20 fee. Because Jump Start lessons must be completed within seven days, timely attendance is especially important to get full value from the intensive structure.
Are Swim & Save lessons lower quality than regular lessons?
Not at all. Swim & Save lessons are taught by developing instructors who receive the same foundational training as all Little Fins teachers. These instructors are building their experience under guidance from senior staff, and many families report excellent results from Swim & Save lessons. The primary differences are the discounted price, lessons scheduled during non-peak times, no ability to request specific instructors, and 30-day package expiration. The instruction quality itself remains high.
