Swim Instructor Positions
Swim instructors are the foundation of everything Little Fins does. You’ll work directly with children of all ages and abilities, teaching essential water safety skills through one-on-one and small group lessons. Every instructor receives comprehensive training in our teaching methods, child development principles, and safety protocols.
Your typical day includes teaching several lessons in our heated indoor pools, communicating progress with parents, maintaining a safe pool environment, and collaborating with fellow instructors. You’ll adapt your teaching style to each swimmer’s needs, celebrate their achievements, and help build their confidence in the water.
We’re looking for people who genuinely enjoy working with children, bring positive energy to their interactions, and align with our core values around integrity, follow-through, and leading with care. Prior swim experience is helpful, but we provide thorough training for candidates who demonstrate the right attitude and commitment.
Instructors start at $16 per hour after training, with advancement to $18-22 per hour based on performance and additional certifications. Experienced instructors and those who take on leadership or specialty roles can earn $40-45 per hour in select programs and premium lesson formats. Growth opportunities include becoming a Lead or Elite Instructor, Pod Leader, Aqua Babies Specialist, or moving into specialist or management roles.
Position requirements include being at least 16 years old, knowing how to swim, comfort working in water for 3-6 hour shifts, availability for evening and weekend hours when most families schedule lessons, and commitment to at least six months of employment. All instructors complete CPR and First Aid certification, which we offer regularly if you’re not already certified.
Many instructors tell us this role builds leadership, communication skills, and confidence that benefit them far beyond the pool.
Administrative Team Positions
Administrative team members are the first point of contact for families who call, visit, or email Little Fins. You’ll manage scheduling, handle customer inquiries, process billing, maintain accurate records, and ensure smooth daily operations at our facilities. Administrative team members are critical to our growth, retention, and overall family experience.
This role requires excellent communication skills, strong organizational abilities, and genuine enthusiasm for customer service. You’ll work with our scheduling software, coordinate with instructors, solve problems creatively, and help families navigate everything from initial trial lessons to ongoing enrollment.
Administrative specialists handle phone calls, texts, emails, and in-person interactions throughout their shifts. You’ll manage lesson scheduling, coordinate substitutes when needed, ensure billing accuracy, maintain facility cleanliness when working on deck, and serve as the connection point between families and instructors.
We need people who are detail-oriented, friendly, flexible, and committed to creating positive experiences for every family who contacts Little Fins. You’ll work closely with management and support staff to continuously improve our processes and enhance how families experience our program.
Administrative positions start at $16-20 per hour depending on experience, with opportunities to grow into specialized roles and leadership positions. Shifts include both front desk and on-deck responsibilities at our two Colorado Springs locations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What age should my baby start survival swim lessons?
We begin infant survival instruction at 6 months old, when babies have sufficient neck control and have reached developmental readiness. The optimal learning window extends through 24 months, though we successfully teach toddlers through age 4 using these same survival-focused techniques. Starting earlier within this window typically means faster skill acquisition.
What age can my baby start Aqua Babies?
Aqua Babies welcomes babies from birth through age 5. Newborns and babies under 6 months receive gentle water introduction without submersions, focusing on sensory exploration and bonding. Older babies and toddlers participate in more active movement and skill-building games appropriate for their developmental stage.
How is infant survival swimming different from Aqua Babies?
Infant survival swimming specifically teaches self-rescue skills using the Swim-Float-Swim method through intensive one-on-one instruction without parent participation. Your baby learns what to do if they accidentally fall into water, building muscle memory for life-saving responses. Aqua Babies is a parent-participation program focusing on water acclimation, play, bonding, and early confidence through songs, games, and sensory activities. Both build water comfort, but survival lessons prioritize emergency self-rescue while Aqua Babies prioritizes positive water experiences and developmental benefits.
Can I participate in infant survival swim lessons with my baby?
Infant survival swim lessons at Little Fins are instructor-led rather than parent-participation classes. This allows the instructor to use specific techniques and maintain consistency in training methods. Parents watch from the pool deck and are involved in practice recommendations for home. For parent-participation water introduction, Aqua Babies is specifically designed for you and your baby to be in the water together, creating bonding time while building early water confidence.
Can my baby do both Aqua Babies and survival lessons?
Absolutely. Many families start with Aqua Babies when their baby is very young, then transition to one-on-one survival lessons around 6 months. Some families continue Aqua Babies for the social and bonding experience while also doing survival training. We’re happy to discuss which combination makes sense for your family’s goals and your baby’s developmental stage
