Swim Clinics in Colorado Springs
Little Fins offers swim clinics that give developing swimmers the focused practice time they need to build on existing abilities. Our clinics are structured sessions where swimmers work on specific techniques, practice proper form, and develop the kind of consistent skills that become second nature over time.
We design clinic programs for different age groups and skill levels, ensuring every swimmer gets instruction matched to their developmental stage and abilities. Currently, we offer two programs: Little Lappers serves younger swimmers ages 3-6 who are building their first understanding of stroke mechanics and proper form. Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics welcomes swimmers ages 7 and up who are ready to refine all four competitive strokes and develop more sophisticated technique. Both programs follow the same philosophy: regular, focused practice with expert coaching creates swimmers who are confident, capable, and continuously improving.
What makes clinics different from regular lessons is the combination of group energy and targeted skill work. Swimmers practice alongside others working on similar goals, which creates natural motivation and a sense of community. The clinic format means skills develop through intensive, focused work in a supportive group setting.
Clinic sessions are offered throughout the year based on demand and instructor availability, giving families flexibility to join when the timing works for their schedule. Our clinics meet at our Union Boulevard location in the same 94-degree heated indoor pool where all Little Fins instruction happens. Programs run year-round, so swimmers can participate during seasons that fit their family’s schedule.

What Happens During Lap Swim Clinics
Little Fins Lap Swim clinics focus on the technical aspects of swimming that help capable swimmers become more efficient and confident in the water. Each session dedicates time to stroke mechanics, breathing patterns, body position, and endurance building through structured practice and coaching.
Little Lappers Clinic
Modality: Group
Session Length: 5 Weeks
Ages: 3-6
Little Lappers introduces younger swimmers to the fundamentals of proper stroke technique during a developmental stage when they’re still building coordination and motor skills. The five-week program works with swimmers who can already move independently across the pool and have foundational knowledge of freestyle and backstroke.
Sessions focus on refining the strokes young swimmers already know while introducing the basic kicks for breaststroke and butterfly. Instructors help swimmers understand how small adjustments in hand position, body rotation, or kick timing create better movement through water. The emphasis stays age-appropriate, with expectations that match what 3 to 6-year-olds can reasonably accomplish.
This program serves swimmers who aren’t quite ready for the endurance and complexity of the older clinic group. Little Lappers bridges that gap, giving younger children focused practice time in a format that matches their attention span and physical capabilities.
Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics Clinic
Modality: Group
Session length: 6 weeks
Ages: 7+
The Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics program welcomes swimmers ages 7 and up who are ready to work on all four competitive strokes with greater technical precision. The six-week format allows time to address each stroke systematically while building endurance and consistency.
Swimmers in this program arrive with working knowledge of breaststroke and butterfly, can swim the length of the pool, and use rotational breathing techniques. Clinic sessions build on these fundamentals, refining the mechanics that separate functional swimming from efficient, powerful strokes. Instructors work on elements like streamline position, underwater phases, turn technique, and the subtle adjustments in arm pull or kick pattern that reduce drag and increase speed.
The group format matters particularly for this age range. Swimmers see what proper technique looks like when watching others, they develop competitive drive naturally through side-by-side practice, and they learn to evaluate their own performance. The social element keeps engagement high during practice that might otherwise feel repetitive.
Both clinic programs maintain Little Fins’ commitment to individualized attention even within group settings. Instructors observe each swimmer, provide specific corrections, and adjust expectations based on individual progress rather than treating all participants identically.
What Makes Little Fins Swim Clinics Different
Structured Skill Development
Clinics provide the consistent, focused practice time that technique refinement requires. Sessions keep skills sharp and create steady improvement through intensive, targeted instruction.
Age-Appropriate Progression
Separate programs for younger and older swimmers mean expectations and coaching approaches match developmental stages. Little Lappers works with the attention spans and physical capabilities of 3 to 6-year-olds, while Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics challenges older swimmers appropriately.
Small Group Benefits
Swimmers gain motivation from practicing alongside peers while still receiving individual coaching and corrections. Group sizes stay small enough that instructors can monitor each participant's technique and provide specific feedback.
Flexible Scheduling
Ongoing clinic sessions throughout the year provide families the flexibility to participate when it works for their schedule. Swimmers can take advantage of focused skill development during seasons that align with their availability.
Clear Prerequisites
Entry requirements ensure all participants have the foundational skills needed to benefit from clinic-level instruction. This creates balanced groups where everyone can work on similar goals.
Expert Instruction
The same qualified instructors who teach Little Fins' private and pod lessons lead clinic sessions, maintaining consistent teaching quality and safety standards across all programs.

Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between Little Lappers and Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics clinics?
Little Lappers serves younger swimmers ages 3-6 who are building foundational stroke technique and working on basic freestyle, backstroke, and introductory breaststroke and butterfly kicks. The five-week program matches the developmental stage and attention span of this age group. Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics welcomes swimmers ages 7 and up who are ready to refine all four competitive strokes with greater technical precision over a six-week session. The programs differ in complexity, expectations, and the level of endurance work involved.
What skills does my child need before joining a swim clinic?
Requirements vary by program, but generally your child should be comfortable and safe in the water, able to swim independently across the pool, and have some experience with basic strokes. Little Lappers works with younger swimmers who are still building their stroke foundation, while Lap Swim Stroke Mechanics is designed for swimmers who already have experience with all four competitive strokes. If you’re not sure whether your swimmer is ready, give us a call at (719) 344-5328 and we’ll talk through where they are and help you find the right fit.
Can my child join a clinic if they're not currently enrolled in regular Little Fins lessons?
Yes, swim clinics welcome both current Little Fins students and new families. As long as your swimmer meets the prerequisites for their age group, they can participate regardless of whether they take ongoing lessons elsewhere or have taken a break from instruction. Many families use clinics as a way to maintain skills during periods when regular lessons don’t fit their schedule.
Where and when do clinics meet?
Clinics are scheduled at our Union Boulevard location throughout the year based on demand and availability. Check our online registration portal or call (719) 344-5328 for information about upcoming sessions.
What if my child misses a clinic session?
Clinic curriculum builds week-by-week, so consistent attendance helps swimmers get the most benefit from the program. We understand that life happens and occasional absences are sometimes unavoidable, but regular participation makes a significant difference in the progress your swimmer will make during the session. There are no make-ups or refunds for missed sessions. When you commit to a 5 or 6 week session, please be sure you are available all 5 or 6 days. We would reschedule or offer a make-up if Little Fins closes for any reason (weather, etc).
