At Little Fins Swim School, our mission has always been bigger than teaching children how to swim. Our goal is to help eliminate childhood drowning through education, awareness, and life-saving swim instruction.

Little Fins Swim School is now an official member of Stop Drowning Now, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization dedicated to ending drowning through education and community outreach.

Through this partnership, Little Fins will bring Stop Drowning Now’s powerful water safety curriculum and resources into schools, community organizations, and youth programs across Colorado Springs and Southern Colorado.

Why This Partnership Matters

Drowning is the leading cause of death for children ages 1–4 and one of the leading causes of accidental death for children overall. CDC 2026

Many drownings happen silently and quickly, often in places families feel safe, like backyard pools, lakes, and even bathtubs.

Organizations like Stop Drowning Now are working to change that by providing simple, effective water safety education that children can understand and remember.

Their nationally recognized program teaches the 5 Layers of Protection, helping families understand how multiple safety measures work together to prevent drowning.

These layers include:

• Adult supervision

• Barriers such as pool fencing

• Water safety education

• Life jackets and US Coast Guard approved flotation safety devices

• Learning survival swim skills
