Every month, we get to brag on someone at Little Fins who goes above and beyond for our swimmers, our families, and our team β and this month, the choice wasn’t even close. Our management team unanimously nominated and voted for Ms. Emily as August’s Wave Maker of the Month.
If you’ve spent any time around Little Fins, there’s a good chance you’ve already met Emily β or at least seen her in action. She’s the instructor who shows up when we need her, no questions asked. Subbing last-minute? Emily’s there. Filling a gap in the schedule? Emily’s there. An event that needs an extra set of hands? Emily is already in the water or on-deck.
Showing Up, Again and Again
What sets Emily apart isn’t one big moment β it’s the co
nsistency. She volunteers at almost every Little Fins event we host, and she shows up to nearly every Bubble Brief, rain or shine, without being asked twice. That kind of reliability is rare, and it doesn’t go unnoticed by our team or our families.
A Teacher Through and Through
Outside of the pool, Emily is a teacher β and it shows in everything she does with our swimmers. She brings patience, warmth, and genuine care to every lesson, and both kids and parents adore her for it. Parents often tell us how much their child looks forward to swimming with Ms. Emily, and that kind of trust is something we don’t take lightly.
Why She’s Our Wave Maker

Being a Wave Maker at Little Fins means more than just being a great instructor β it means embodying what we’re all about: showing up, caring deeply, and making sure every kid feels safe and supported in the water. Emily does all of that and then some. Emily embodies so many of our Little Fins Core Values:
- Follow Through & Over Deliver β When Emily says she’ll be there, she’s there. Subbing a class, filling a last-minute gap, showing up to a Bubble Brief β she doesn’t just meet the ask, she exceeds it.
- Lead With Love β Kids and parents adore her because she treats every swimmer with the same kindness, patience, and respect she brings to her own classroom as a teacher.
- People Over Profits β Emily volunteers her time again and again, not because she has to, but because she genuinely cares about our swimmers, their families, Little Fins and our team.
- Own the Outcome β She takes ownership of every lesson and every commitment, showing up consistently so our families and teammates can count on her.
We’re so grateful to have her on our team. Congratulations, Ms. Emily β you’ve earned it! π
