Celebrating Deana at Little Fins Swim School
At Little Fins Swim School, our Wave Maker of the Month recognizes team members who go above and beyond to create positive momentum for our swimmers, families, team, and community.
This month, we are so excited to celebrate Ms. Deana as our May 2026 Wave Maker of the Month! 🌊💙
Ms. Deana truly embodies what it means to Think Bigger, Act Bolder and Lead with Love.
Ms. Deana is one of Little Fins’ biggest cheerleaders. She has been out in the Colorado Springs community several times each week spreading our mission of water safety and drowning prevention. Doing school visits and community events. Deana passionately shares the importance of swim lessons and lifesaving water safety education with local families.
She isn’t just talking about the mission…she’s living it.
Ms. Deana has brought incredible energy and creativity to our team since April 2021! Yes, she just hit 5 years at Little Fins! She even created a fun new song that has brought excitement and positivity to the pool deck, classrooms, our swim meets, and beyond. Her enthusiasm is contagious, and she consistently helps lift the people around her.
Something you may not know about Ms. Deana
Additionally, one of the things that makes Deana so inspiring is her strength and resilience outside the pool as well.
A few years ago, Deana courageously battled and beat breast cancer. 💗 Her perseverance and positivity continue to inspire our team and everyone around her. She is a true fighter, and her story is a powerful reminder of strength, gratitude, and choosing joy even in difficult seasons.
And while making a huge impact in the community, she has also stepped up in a major way internally.
Recently, Deana has stepped up in many ways to support operations. For example, she has been:
- Subbing additional shifts
- Getting in the pool to teach
- Opening another shift in her schedule
- Taking on her own Aqua Babies class
- Helping support the team wherever needed
This kind of flexibility, leadership, and heart is exactly what makes a true Wave Maker.
