Penny’s Swim Journey at Little Fins

A Swimmer’s Story: Why I Love Swimming at Little Fins

There’s something truly magical about swimming—the feeling of weightlessness, the rhythmic strokes, the refreshing splash of cool water. For me, swimming isn’t just a sport; it’s a passion. And there’s no better place to nurture that passion than at Little Fins.

Penny’s Journey

When Penny first started at Little Fins Swim School, she was three years old and as stiff as a board. She hated to float but had a strong desire to swim. Like other three-year-olds, staying in one spot was not fun at all; she finally gave in and passed her five-minute safety test.

Her instructor always complimented Penny on what amazing breath control she had. She was made to be a mermaid. There was a time when her mom wanted to quit, but then with some small changes to her lesson, she was ready to be the little fish we all knew she was.

A Fun and Supportive Environment

She loves swimming every week with Ms. Deana and enjoys her Sunday afternoons at Mermaid Training. She loves swimming in her mermaid tail and learning new tricks from Ms. Anna at Mermaid Training. She also looks forward to seeing her best friend Angie, and they take turns getting snacks for one another each week.

Penny also loves participating in the swim meets because she enjoys cheering on other swimmers. From learning floats and how to be a calm swimmer to now working on flip turns, start dives, and mermaid tricks, Penny loves that her mom stayed committed to helping her become safe and secure in the water.

More Than Just Swimming

Swimming at Little Fins has given Penny more than just strong strokes and endurance—it has given her friendships, discipline, and a sense of accomplishment. It has taught her resilience and patience. Every time she dives into the water, she is reminded of why she loves this sport so much.

If you’re looking for a place where you can grow as a swimmer and be part of a community that truly cares, Little Fins is the place to be. Penny’s journey is a testament to the incredible support and dedication found at Little Fins, and she wouldn’t trade it for anything.
