ABC's of Swimming

Just as children heading back to school will be focusing on learning fundamental knowledge for their academic success, the same idea applies to our swimmers in their aquatic endeavors. Remembering that successfully learning new skills of any kind; academic, physical, or emotional, requires time, practice, and effort. The ABCs of Swimming Success on our board serve as a reminder for our swim families.

A: Allow time for your child to show progress.

Every child learns at their own pace...and typically, it takes about three months of weekly lessons to see marked improvement and growth in our swimmers' skills. (This is also why we require a three-month commitment for our new families signing up for lessons.)

B: Breath control and bubbles

Teaching our swimmers proper breath control will help them stay calm and confident when they are learning new safety and swimming skills in the pool. This is something parents can help with at home too! Bath time can be a great time for kids to practice blowing bubbles and holding their breath with their faces in the water.

C: Consistency is key

Just like anything else in life, we get better with consistent practice! Swimming is also a skill that you lose if you don't use it! We are teaching our students a life-long, life-saving skill.
