When we started Little Fins Swim School, we started it because we believed in what swim lessons could do for a family. We believed in giving kids the tools to be safe around water, and we believed in building a team that genuinely cared about that mission.

Eleven years later, we are teaching 40,000+ lessons a year at two Colorado Springs locations, and we are growing. Fast. The demand for quality, one-on-one swim instruction in this community is real, and we want to meet it. To do that, we need good people on our team. And so we’re excited to share that we’re hiring!

What It Actually Means to Work Here

This is not just a swim job. Our instructors are on the front lines of drowning prevention every single day. Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children ages one to four, and that is not a statistic we take lightly. It is the reason we do what we do, and it shapes everything about how we train and support our team.

At Little Fins, you’ll teach one-on-one and Pod lessons to swimmers of all ages and abilities, in our heated indoor pools at both our Garden of the Gods and Union Boulevard locations. Because we’re indoors and year-round, you’ll have a consistent schedule. No seasonal gaps, no weather-dependent cancellations. Just steady, meaningful work in a community you’ll feel proud to be part of.

What our instructors tell me, over and over, is that they stay because of the relationships. With the kids. With the families. With each other. One of my favorite things to witness is a child who showed up terrified of the water swimming across the pool on their own. Our instructors get to be the reason that happens.

What Growth Looks Like on Our Team

We believe in building people, not just filling positions. Here is what that looks like in practice:

When you join us as an instructor, you come in with comprehensive training in our Swim-Float-Swim teaching methodology, child development principles, and safety protocols. From there, we have clear advancement pathways tied directly to your development and performance, including Lead Instructor, Elite Instructor, Pod Leader, and Aqua Babies Specialist roles. We also do PPF goal setting with our team, which stands for Personal, Professional, and Financial Goals. Because we want to help you build the life you want, not just get through your shift.

We also do Bubble Briefs, short daily huddles to start the day connected. We celebrate wins. We communicate. We genuinely work to build a culture where people want to show up, and our long-tenured staff are proof that it is working.

Two Roles, One Mission

We are hiring for two types of positions at both our Garden of the Gods and Union Boulevard locations, and both are essential to what we do every day.

Swim Instructor

Every shift, you are working one-on-one with children of all ages and abilities, adapting to each swimmer’s needs, communicating progress to parents, and building genuine confidence in the water. Most of your day is spent teaching, and at the end of it you will know exactly what you accomplished.

You do not need prior teaching experience to apply. We provide comprehensive training in ISS and Swim-Float-Swim methodology, child development, and safety protocols. What we are looking for is a genuine love for working with kids, positive energy, and the drive to grow. You do need to know how to swim and be comfortable in the water for 3 to 6 hour shifts. Applicants must be at least 16 years old.

Instructors start at $16 per hour after training, with advancement to $18 to $22 per hour based on performance and certifications. Experienced instructors in leadership and specialty roles can earn $40 to $55 per hour. Growth paths include Lead Instructor, Elite Instructor, Pod Leader, and Aqua Babies Specialist.

Administrative Specialist

Admin team members are the first voice families hear when they call and the first face they see when they walk through the door. You’ll manage scheduling, handle customer inquiries, coordinate instructor coverage, process billing, and create the kind of experience that makes a family feel like they made the right choice.

This role requires strong communication skills, a highly organized mindset, and genuine enjoyment of serving people. You’ll work across phone, text, email, and in person, often all in the same shift. Admin positions start at $16 to $18 per hour, with clear paths to specialized and leadership roles.
